When Calgary couple Sam and Makenna reached out about their engagement photos after their Christmas 2023 proposal, we immediately began planning a summer photography session that would tell their unique love story in the heart of Alberta's mountains.

During our consultation, Makenna shared the sweetest detail about how their relationship began - Sam's mom had mailed him a homemade pie, and Makenna happened to be in the friend group lucky enough to share this treat. This charming story inspired us to create a romantic mountain picnic for their engagement photoshoot, complete with a handmade pie the couple baked together as a thoughtful nod to their beginnings.

The evening unfolded beautifully against Banff's stunning landscape, just a short drive from their Calgary home. Even when unexpected wildfire smoke rolled in across the mountains, it created a dreamy, atmospheric backdrop that added a unique mood to their photos - sometimes photography magic happens in the most unexpected ways!
